The Ultimate Indian Wedding Experience: Part 3
After all of the prepping, primping, and photographing the wedding itself was a pretty low-key event - only lasting for about a half day. The entire ceremony took place on the stage of a local Hindu Celebration Hall, and was easily one of the least organized things I've ever witnessed. (Possibly due to the bride and groom having only known each other for 30 days at this point...crazy.) Most of the other guests spent the ceremony on stage crowded around the bride and groom, so we could only really see what was going on for maybe half the time. Not that it made much of a difference since I had literally no concept of what was happening at any given point. A lot of that had to do with there being a ritual connected to every single detail of the ceremony, which would take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes (and usually involved some combination of food, flowers, and fire). | The Wedding Ceremony To this day I still couldn't tell you at which point the actual marriage happened... |
